How to translate creativity into entrepreneurship - Help'n'Trade

Podcast episode #15 – How to translate creativity into entrepreneurship with Olga Q.C. from Creative Cesar Media

Olga Q.C. is a founder of “Creative Cesar Media“, a media production company in Basel, Switzerland. The main products of Olgas venture are stop motion movies, short movies, documentaries, cartoons and much more. Olga is a chairwoman of Professional Women’s Group of Basel, author of a book, a play, is an actress as well. All her creative activities do not stay on paper only, but are brought to life as a consumable product. That makes Olga a great body of knowledge on how to translate ones creativity into entrepreneurship.

How to bring out creativity from yourself

Olgas answer: “Start by writing”. Writing is probably the easiest and at the same moment the hardest part of creative process. When you write, it is only you, the paper and your thoughts between those two. That is what makes writing so effective, because you “bring it to the point” with just your hand. Through writing, you see and quite literally, face your own thoughts. This is the hard part, because with thoughts come out emotions, but your emotions is what drives your creativity, therefore you need to be able to face your own thoughts and your emotions at the same time. … and do you know what is the best part about writing? Writing is story telling and a story is what makes people connect to you.

Find a message in your story

All of us have thoughts, all of us have emotions. Yet, what you need to learn is to filter out ideas, which have no message. If you can’t bring a message in whatever you are trying to create, no-one else will do so. Therefore, question your message and focus on what you and your audience can understand in the moment you bring your creation to life.
Now you may ask, “but how do I find the message?”. The easiest way is to relate to your own experience or experience of others. When you are starting with acting, relate the character to someone you know. When starting with writing, base your story on experience you had. You can find the same relation in everything you want to create, being a painting, song writing, really anything.
